Sacramento Medical Marijuana's Current Status

The Federal government announced early this month of an aggressive crackdown against Sacramento medical marijuana dispensaries, saying the worst offenders are using the cover of medical marijuana to act as drug dealers. This move made many cannabis medical patients feel bad because they thought the government is being unfair to them. They asked the government to spare them and just lock up those true offenders: The Traffickers!

This cannabis crackdown materialized through the initiative of the Obama administration to toughen up its stand on the use of this alternative medicine called, medical cannabis in the entire region. The Federal government had made this measure after they indicated in the past years that they would tolerate the use of this medical cannabis but for health problems only. During those years they allow dispensaries to operate freely in the
region and other states where marijuana is legal for medical patients but with medical doctors' recommendations and proper documentation.

But early on, the U.S. Department of Justice in July issued a memo to federal prosecutors saying dispensaries and licensed growers in states with medical marijuana laws could face prosecution for violating federal drug and money-laundering laws. The California crackdown appears to be the most far-reaching effort so far.

This happens because of the increase in drug trafficking in Sacramento. Drug traffickers are using California's 15-year-old medical marijuana law to operate in plain sight, selling cannabis products to prospective users without doctor’s recommendations. With what is happening, the Federal government thought of imposing much stricter penalties for violators.

According to an expert in medical cannabis, He understands there are people in California who believe marijuana stores should be allowed to exist, but he thinks we can all agree we don't need marijuana stores across the street from schools and Little League fields.

Authorities in the entire region have promised to shut down dozens of operations but declined to say how many dispensaries are subject to closure orders. The crackdown also involves new indictments and arrests of marijuana growers throughout the state over the past two weeks. This scenario is causing too much panic to most of medical cannabis patients. They argue that if this crackdown against marijuana will continue, many patients will get affected so they are hoping for a policy that will benefit the recommended users, and would eliminate those traffickers literally and figuratively.

According to a reliable source, not all of the thousands of storefront marijuana dispensaries thought to be operating in the entire region are being targeted. But don’t get tense, the government is just going after dispensaries located close to schools, churches, amusement parks and other places where there are a lot of children, as well as significant commercial operations banks, markets, restaurants and many more.
